SimpleMoney ("we", "us", or "our") operates the SimpleMoney personal finance application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly:

  • Account information: name, email address, and authentication credentials (managed by Clerk)
  • Financial data: account balances, transactions, budgets, and goals that you manually enter
  • Usage data: how you interact with the app (pages visited, features used)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the SimpleMoney service
  • Process your subscription and payments (via Stripe)
  • Send transactional emails (trial reminders, payment confirmations)
  • Improve the app based on usage patterns
  • Respond to support requests

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on encrypted databases hosted by Neon (PostgreSQL). We use 256-bit TLS encryption for all data in transit. Authentication is handled by Clerk, a SOC 2 compliant identity provider. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified processor.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Neon — database hosting
  • Resend — transactional email delivery

These services have their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third party.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal and financial data within 30 days, except where required by law (e.g., payment records for tax compliance).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your financial data (CSV export is available in-app)

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email or by posting a notice in the app.
